Bass Masters Creed

I promise to create among my fellow anglers, and the public in general, an awareness of my Chapter's and my Society's contributions to American angling, conservation and outdoor recreation. I will encourage and instruct the youth of my community in the art of bass fishing. I pledge myself to full adherence to all conservation codes and to detect and report any polluter of our nation's waters.

About Steve Stephens

I have been a confirmed Bass fisherman since the early 60's. My first Bass Boat a was stick steering Monarch with a 50 hp Evinrude and it flew accross the lake at a stinging 30 MPH! Of course, back then Fishing Gypsy was the big rig & Ranger wasn't even a thought in Forrest Wood's head. (You'd think I would be better at catching Bass by now but for some of us it is a very steep learning curve).

For almost twenty years I ran the same rig, a 20ft. Champion with a 200 Merc. I sold it a year ago this past spring and for the first time in over 30 years I was without a boat. That situation was remedied this spring with another Champion. This time it is a 184 DCR with a 150 Evinrude. Anyone have a spare 175 laying around?

My favorite baits? Well, when the bass are on them, I prefer Jerk Baits & Buzz Baits, followed by just about any top water and then the senko. However, my absolute favorite bait is always the one catching fish that day.

I will turn 65 this year during our annual Oklahoma Trip, and from the early 1960's to this day, a good day for me is any day I can get on the water. Some however, are better than others.
